Plastic Surgeon Nikolaos I. Moustakis graduated from the Medical Department of the Hellenic Military Academy of Combat Support Officers (SSAS) and the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). The Naxian doctor completed his studies in 2007 and was sworn in as a Medical Officer of the Navy, providing valuable services both in Greece and abroad, participating in domestic and international missions.
In 2013, he began his specialization in Plastic Surgery at the Athens Naval Hospital. After passing exams at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, he continued and completed his training in the United Kingdom.
From 2015 to 2020, he trained at one of the largest Plastic Surgery units in Europe, the St. Andrew’s Centre for Plastic Surgery & Burns. During this period, he specialised in the full spectrum of Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He had the privilege of training under internationally renowned Plastic Surgeons, such as N. Niranjan who initiated him into the art of Plastic Surgery, under V. Ramakrishnan in microsurgical breast reconstruction after mastectomy, P. Dziewulski in the Burns Unit, one of the top-ranking units in Europe and worldwide, as well as the legendary B. Sommerlad, President of the British Association of Plastic Surgeons, in the restoration of congenital deformities.
He then worked as a Senior Fellow at Broomfield Hospital for two years, from 2018 to 2020. During this time, he completed 4 Fellowships and specialised in:
- Breast reconstructive surgery, with an emphasis on microsurgical reconstruction using autologous tissues, under M. Banwell (Breast Microsurgical Fellowship).
- Head and Neck reconstructive surgery, under the guidance of world-renowned Greek Plastic Surgeon Ms. Kallirroi Tzafetta (Head & Neck Fellowship).
- Hand surgery, under D. Elliot (Hand Fellowship).
- Trauma surgery (Trauma Fellowship).
