I was born in Athens on March 8, 1975. My father, Antonis, was a retired director of the Agricultural Bank of Greece from Ermoupolis, Syros, and my mother, Rosa-Maria Delaroka, exclusively devoted to maternal duties, was from Naxos.

The 6 years of primary school were spent at the 150th Primary School of Kypseli. I then attended gymnasium (junior high school) and lyceum (high school) at the Varvakeio Public Model High School. In 1993, I entered the School of Medicine at the University of Crete through the Panhellenic entrance exams. After completing my studies and receiving my medical degree, I fulfilled the mandatory rural service for 21 months at the Health Centre of Dimitsana, with a secondment to the surgical clinic of the Panarkadian Hospital of Tripolis for on-call duties. From 2003-2004, I served as a soldier doctor in the army, while waiting for a position to open up for my general surgery residency.

Training began in August 2004 at the 1st Surgical Clinic of the General State Hospital of Athens “G. Gennimatas”, a clinic entirely focused on oncological surgery of the digestive system and endocrine glands, under the guidance of my teachers, Mr. E. Kalokairinos and Mr. I. Kostopanagiotou. During the final year and after completing a highly comprehensive specialty in both open and laparoscopic surgery, I pursued further training and specialisation in oncological surgery (malignant diseases of the pancreas and endocrine system) at the Liver-Biliary-Pancreatic-Endocrine Gland Clinic led by Professor Nagy Habib at the Hammersmith Hospital (Department of Surgery and Cancer – Division of Surgery – Imperial College London) in London. I received specialised training in total mesorectal excision (TME) for rectal cancer treatment from the surgical team at the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, directed by Richard-John (Bill) Heald, also the founder of the Pelican Cancer Foundation and one of the most significant post-war colorectal surgeons. Recently, I further trained in minimally invasive thyroidectomy and parathyroidectomy at the Endocrine Glands Surgical Oncology Clinic of the University of Pisa.

Since early 2011, I have been active in the private sector with my colleagues and our oncology team, whilst also holding my private practice. Since September 2013, I have been an officially certified member of the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO).

From July 2015 to December 2021, I was the director of the Department of Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Glands at the Medical Centre of Palaio Faliro, and since January 2022, following an honorary proposal from the HHG Group, I have taken on the directorship of the 10th Surgical Clinic – Thyroid and Endocrine Gland Surgery Center at Metropolitan General.
